ARC DE TRIOMPHE
Day 6 was planned to be a relaxing day for us. We took the Métro to Arc de Triomphe in the morning. It is a huge monument that has four pillars, surrounded by the roundabout with heavy traffic. The sculptures on the monument are quite spectacular to look at. There are underpasses that pedestrians can take to get to the Arc.

CHEZ MONSIEUR
We had a lunch reservation at Chez Monsieur near our hotel so we took the Métro back to the hotel and walked to the restaurant. We fell in love with this restaurant. The food and the service were excellent. The asparagus was the best I had ever had.

LE MEURICE CÉDRIC GROLET'S PATISSERIE
Later in the afternoon we went to Le Meurice Cédric Grolet's Patisserie. Cédric Grolet has been named the World’s Best Restaurant Pastry Chef 2017. The pastry shop was not big and only two parties were allowed in the shop at a time. And it was for takeout only. Apparently sculpted fruit pastries are his specialty as shown in the pictures below. Every piece of dessert there looked like a work of art. My favorite was the Noisette (hazelnut dessert). It is one of the best desserts I have ever had.

LA MAROQUINERIE PARISIENNE
We also did some shopping that day. We went to a three-story shop called La Maroquinerie Parisienne near our hotel, Hilton Paris Opera. They sell purses and other leather goods for men and women and carry brands such as Longchamp and Le Tanneur. The prices were quite good.

On our way back to the hotel we saw someone giving out free activia yogurt samples and we got one. It was a strawberry, raspberry, and goji berry yogurt and it was very good. This type of promotional giveaway is common in Paris. But freebies are not limited to promotional items. We once got a free croissant and latte at a shopping mall.
